Community Midwives

The midwives work with the doctors to provide care for mums before and after delivery and care for the baby for at least the first ten days of life.  They can be contacted at Dorset County Hospital – the Cranbourne Team on 01305 254245.

Most expectant mothers will have a choice of care by their GP, a Midwife or Consultant Obstetrician or a combination.

Ultrasound scans are done at Blandford Hospital, where there are regular AnteNatal Clinics.

Community Nurses

The community nurses provide nursing treatments and advice to the housebound and patients who have recently been discharged from hospital. They can be contacted via the surgery. The community nurses and practice nurses work closely together and if you are not well enough to attend the surgery, you will be able to see the community nurse. Your care may well be passed back to the practice nurse once you are out and about again.

Telephone (01258) 450717 or leave a message on the answering machine if no-one available.
