As we are trying to keep all contact to a minimum the doors to the surgery will be locked. Unless you have a confirmed pre booked appointment you will not have access into surgery this will keep both our patients and staff safe. All appointments will be over the phone unless the GP states otherwise. You can however still contact us on 01258 452501 or 01258 453171. You can also still collect your medication from the dispensary window to the left of the building. thank you for you continued support at this difficult time.

All appointments with GPs, ANPs, and our Chronic Disease Nurses are now telephone appointments. If you need to come into the Surgery, this will be arranged by a clinician. This is the only way of getting a face to face appointment. If you already have an appointment booked, a member of our patient services team will call you to confirm this with you.

Please bear in mind that it is the clinician’s decision if you require a face to face appointment, not our Patient Services Team. For anything non-urgent, please consider using our eConsult service via our website www.theblandfordgrouppractice.co.uk/

In the interest of the community and all our team, the Surgery is now closed for all patients except those who are arriving for their prebooked appointment, or attending the Dispensary. Repeat medication can now be ordered over the phone.

Patients are requested, where possible, to telephone before 10am if a home visit is required that day.

We would request that, apart from the genuinely housebound, all other patients attend the surgery rather than request a home visit because of the extra time home visiting takes. On average four to five patients can be seen in surgery in the time it takes to do a single house call. In addition, the care that can be offered due to the lack of adequate lighting, examination facilities and equipment means that you may not receive as good a service as the doctor may be able to offer if you came to the surgery.

Please note that the doctor, paramedic, or ANP may telephone you rather than visit you if this is medically appropriate. Ultimately it is the clinicians right to decide whether or not a visit is appropriate for a particular set of circumstances.

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.

Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Medical examinations for special purposes such as pre-employment, fitness to travel, elderly drivers, fitness to undertake sports etc., will require longer than a routine appointment.

These examinations do not form part of NHS Services, you will be charged for any such examination. Please check the fee chargeable before arranging any such examination. Please inform the receptionist when arranging such appointments.
